A message from Luton Foodbank's Manager

Dear friends

Thank you for supporting Harvest Challenge 2020.

As you know, this has been an extremely difficult year because of Covid-19, with more and more people relying on foodbanks and other charities.  So we're delighted to see so many schools signing up!

Whatever you do to fundraise for us (a non-uniform day is always fun) we want to thank you for thinking of us.

There are trophies for the schools who meet their fundraising targets, and certificates for the children who have put in the best efforts.

We have also compiled a resource pack for doing activities with your pupils.

Thank you for your support

  • Hold a thought-provoking class discussion, using the latest food-poverty statistics
  • Get pupils thinking about the issues, by challenging them with the included quiz. Split a class into teams, or play class vs class in Assembly.
  • Younger children will enjoy using our special headed the blank letter template, you may ask the children to write to their parents letting them know about what they have learnt about the work of a foodbank.
  • We have also a newspaper template, which students can use to mock up a front page, including facts and statistics they have gathered through research.
